AVANT KINEMA

Scottish artists, Sarahjane Swan and Roger Simian, explore Identity, Memory and Dreams through a collaborative practice which spans multiple artistic forms, including films, installation art, sculpture, music, diy publications and writing. Under the names Avant Kinema (films/art/writing/sound) and The Bird And The Monkey (alternative songs/music videos), their work frequently reaches international audiences. Recipients of numerous  arts grants and commissions (South of Scotland VACMA, The Hope-Scott Trust, Creative Scotland, Imprints of The New Modernist  Editing), Swan and Simian were winners of the Pauline Fay Lazarus Prize in 2019.
